Sorting toys

This afternoon, Tigers received a message from the Toymaker to ask us to sort out his toy box.

We had 2 hoops and the children suggested different ways of sorting the toys. When we found it tricky to sort a toy into one of the hoops, we overlapped them so that a toy could be in both hoops at once.

Sometimes we found that our labels weren’t clear enough so people were sorting the toys in a different way than we thought. Together we established clearer rules for our groups so that sorting the toys was more successful and useful. For example, when sorting the toys into ‘old’ and ‘new’, we decided that ‘old’ would refer to the sort of toy that could have been played with 100 years ago.
