Grouping Animals 🐯🦎🐧

Image
On Friday afternoon, the Tigers and the Bears joined together to learn all about the animal groups. We had a fantastic time working as teams to match all the animals to the correct groups.

Community Walk- Babbling Vagabonds 🎭

Image
On Friday, the Tigers joined the Babbling Vagabonds for a walk around our community. The children planned their route of all the interesting places in Taddington to share with our guests. Along the walk we discovered hidden facts about our village and discussed changes over the years. The children even got to share their historical knowledge on the history of Taddington School from our ‘School Days’ topic!  When we got back to school we used a map to pinpoint all the places that we lived and important places to us.

Recycling ♻️

Image
On Thursday we had a visit from Derbyshire Dales Council to educate us all about recycling in our area!  We discussed waste, types of waste and what to do with it to make sure it can be recycled and reused. The Tigers joined with the Bears to play a guessing game before heading outside to get the full experience by exploring a recycling truck! ♻️🚛

The History Van 👑🚐📝

Today, the Tigers have had a brilliant morning completing a toy workshop with the help of Kathryn from the History Van.  We have brought together our knowledge of Childhood from the autumn term and started to connect this to our new ‘School Days’ topic. Firstly, we looked at songs that children sang many years ago-with many we still sing today. Next we tried and tested many games that Victorian children played in their playground including skittles, hoops, horseshoes and bridges. Then we took a trip to our Victorian toy shop. Each child had one Victorian penny to spend on a toy before testing these out together. After that, as we know the best toy inventors after all are children, we created our very own toys using items that would be found in a Victorian household. We had many creative ideas from aero planes, to dolls, to building blocks! A big thank you indeed to Kathryn from the History Van for a wonderful fun-filled toy experience into what it was like to be a Victorian child.
