Hot-seating and Tableaux

This morning, we reminded ourselves of the story we started last week, ‘Jim and the Beanstalk’. The children retold the story in their own words, taking it in turns to tell the next part. Some of the children then had chance to come to our ‘hot-seats’ at the front where they became our characters (Jim or the Giant) and answered questions from the class. We had some very scary giants!

We discussed how the characters might be feeling at key points in the story, then the children had the chance to demonstrate these feelings through tableaus. The children showed that they had really thought about the changing feelings of the characters throughout the story.
