Weston Park Museum

Weston Park Museum

We had such a wonderful time on our whole school trip to Weston Park Museum today.

Weston Park Museum is in a central area of Sheffield giving the children a sense of city life.

The infants started their day with a workshop whilst the juniors looked around the rest of the museum.
The infant workshop was on Habitats. The children were not just given information but became investigators, exploring the animal area of the museum to find answers about the habitats and diets of the animals they were assigned.

The children were then tasked with using their findings to create a collage habitat for their animal puppet.

The children then presented their habitats to Horace the seal who wanted to know if he could like with the animals in their habitat. Which habitat do you think he chose?

After a wonderful workshop, it was time for lunch. We all joined together to enjoy this in the beautiful Weston Park just outside the museum.

After lunch, the infants had chance to explore the rest of the museum whilst the juniors had their workshop about Ancient Egypt.

We got to see some old treasures.

We had the chance to see what life was like in the past, including how shops and houses were different as well as how washing was done without machines.

Tigers reflected back on our Magical Toys topic, getting chance to see a huge range of toys from the past.

We loved building a pyramid and looking at the mummies in the Ancient Egypt exhibit.

The animal room was a BIG hit.

There was even a section where you could see all of the critters that could live in a kitchen!

We also thought back to our topic 'Getting Around', getting chance to see some old vehicles.

Alfie and Sep showed us the Anglo Saxon helmet that was found on their land!

We explored maps.

And, as always, we found a space to read.

There was so many other exciting things to see and experiences to enjoy.

A day to remember, filled with awe, laughter and learning.
