 Thursday 14th December 2023  Incarnation: Advent Celebrations  This half term the Tigers have been learning all about incarnation and the Gospel of Luke. This week we went on a 'Christmas is coming walk' in our local area. We spotted the crib, Christmas trees, lights and beautiful decorations all around the village. We also shared what we do in our own homes with our families to get ready for Christmas. We mentioned that in our homes we use advent calendars. We discussed that the word 'advent' means the arrival of something or someone and that Christians use advent to prepare for celebrating the birth of Jesus.  We were even lucky enough to be invited down to the church to celebrate advent traditions with them, and to help make a crib scene. 

 Friday 15th December 2023  Local Physical and Human Features Enquiry Today the Tigers have conducted a geographical enquiry to find out what human and physical features are present in our local area of Taddington. The children used a spotting sheet to collect their data using their observations and taking photographs. Back in the classroom we collated and analysed our data to answer the question ‘What type of settlement is Taddington?’, before deciding based on our data that this was a village. 

Thursday 14th December 2023  Sketching Portraits  Today, the Tigers have been sketching portraits using their observation skills! Firstly, looked at some example portraits by Picasso and other artists and had a discussion about the facial features and their positions on the portraits. Not all of them were as you would expect! We then used a variety of different drawing materials including graphite pencils, chalk, sketching pencils and charcoal to experiment with and complete our own portraits using simple lines and shapes, before sharing and comparing our portrait's in a gallery to the rest of the class.   

A huge well done to all of our infants for 2 wonderful performances of Barmy Bethlehem. You are all stars and we are incredibly proud of every one of you.
