Coastal Erosion
Today, the Tigers have been investigating the question,
'What effects do you think erosion can cause to a coastal location over time?'
To answer our question we tested out using sand castles and water what happens to our coastlines over time. Firstly we used the sand to make cliffs, lego to make buildings and water for the sea. The waves crashed against the sand, eroding it away. The Tigers then came up with solutions to try and fix this problem as we also found out that our coastline is eroding by up to 2 metres each year! Firstly we used some sticks as a sea wall and some rocks as rip rap to stop the waves from hitting the cliff.
We looked carefully at the waves and water as they hit the sand and tried to use vocabulary such as 'washing away', 'crumbling' and 'eroding' in our own descriptions.
