Structures ๐ผ๐ข
In D&T this half term we have been learning about structures with the question
‘How can we stop a tower from toppling over?’
Firstly, we experimented by building towers from lots of different types of blocks. We established that for something to be balanced, weight has to be equal on both sides and if the blocks are not placed centrally, then this could affect the balance.
Next, we learnt all about the different joins of cardboard and how we can use these to make a sturdy tower. We used techniques such as wrapping, folding, flange and tab joins, feet and slot joins and L joins.
Next we are going to use all our learning to create our own towers this week!
