Babbling Vagabonds - puppet-making

Image
On Wednesday afternoon, Tigers had a puppet-making workshop with the Babbling Vagabonds. They looked at making puppets that would help them to tell the story that they created in their morning worshop. We revisited vocabulary from our Science unit on materials; discussing the words 'transparent' and 'opaque'. We talked about how the shadows are made, thinking about light travelling in straight lines.  The children did a wonderful job of drawing and cutting out their puppets then practising putting them in front of the torch to make a shadow. We looked at how the distance of the puppet from the torch affected the size of the shadow.

Today the Tigers have embarked on a creative day of storytelling and puppet making! We begun our day by creating our story which involved a snow fox🦊 , snow cat 🐱 and what other than the teachers’ secret stash of biscuits! 🍪 In the afternoon, we developed our story by making shape puppets of the characters to share with parents. What a wonderful day we have had!

What do plants need to grow? 🌱

Today, the Tigers have begun their investigation into what plants need to grow. Working in groups we have all planned an investigation to either test sunlight or warmth. Each team member has planted a vegetable and placed it somewhere different. We then predicted what we think may happen. Over the next few weeks we will keep monitoring and observe our plants.

On Wednesday, the Y2 children explored halves through some munchie maths! We used fruit and of course some sweet treats to help us firstly recognize a half, then we had a go at splitting them into equal parts.

On Thursday afternoon, our Y2 children took part in the Ball and Balance Festival at Chapel High School. We had a fantastic afternoon trying out lots of different activities including hockey, football, basketball and tennis. We even had a target of Disney villains to practice our aim when throwing. The children represented our school beautifully with their ability to listen to instructions by the sports leaders and their wonderful sportsmanship. Well done,Y2, I am very proud of you!
