Waves! 🌊🎨✍️

Image
This afternoon, the Tigers have developed their observational drawing skills further by sketching and painting seascapes. We used our knowledge of coastal towns from our Geography lessons to create our own wave-themed paintings.  We explored different ways to create wave-like patterns using water colors, sponges, different brushes and poster paints.  We also discussed the texture, colour, shape and form of these waves- A super way to get in retrieval practice from our art lessons and get ourselves using that artistic vocabulary! 🎨

Munchie Maths

Image
Mrs Chapman had a wonderful time doing Munchie Maths with the Tigers. We were focusing on areas in Big Maths that we're finding tricky. Year 1s were looking at subtraction and Year 2s were looking at doubling and halving. Yum, yum!

Shaping Materials

Image
Tigers are building on their 'Everyday Materials' Science unit from the Autumn term, now looking at 'Uses of Materials'. On Thursday, we had fun with Blu Tack; bending it, twisting it, squashing it and stretching it. We then explored some videos, games and quizzes on the computers to help us to understand how different materials behave (their properties).

Thursday 9th November 2023  Pro-Strike Today, the Tigers did their pro-strike football kicks! We had some fantastic effort,  some super scores and of course, the Tigers raised some fantastic funds for our school!

TARMAC Visit 🚜🪨

Image
Tuesday 9th January 2024  The Tigers and Bears welcomed a visitor to tell us all about what happens at one of our local quarry’s. The children asked many thoughtful questions and were exited to see different types of rocks, equipment used in the quarry and watch some videos taken just this morning of what working in a quarry looks like- and who know that limestone was in toothpaste?!

Exploring 2d shapes 🔷🟥

Image
Today, the Y2 children have been exploring 2d shape. In Maths we always try to show our understanding in three different ways- three is the magic number!  The Tigers took on the challenge of creating 2d shapes in many different ways using peg boards, geo boards, sticks and different shapes to create patterns.

Exploring Whitby 🏖🌊

Image
Today, the Tigers took a virtual tour of Whitby to investigate the human and physical features that are present in a coastal town. Firstly, we used our knowledge of keys to help us read and understand the Whitby Map before taking a walk on Google Earth. We located Human Features such as the Abbey, shops and hotels as well as physical features like the beach and cliffs. 🏖⛱ We also decided that those 199 steps to the Abbey do look rather tiring!
